PE & Sports Premium – Audley Primary School

What is Sports Premium?

The Government continues to provide funding for sports which will also be available the academic year 2017/18. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

Purpose of funding.

The purpose of the funding is that schools will have to spend the sport funding in improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Accountability

  • Our schools will be held accountable for how we spend the sport funding. Ofsted has strengthened its coverage of sport and PE within the Inspectors’ handbook and supporting guidance, so that schools and inspectors know how sport and PE will be assessed in future, as part of the school’s overall provision offered.
  • The sport funding, for Audley Primary School, has been given for the academic year 2017/18, which stands at £
  • As a school we already provide a high quality Physical Education and Sport program, and our intention is that this funding will further enhance the existing provision in school
  • This money can ONLY be spent on sport and PE provision in schools

How has/will the money be spent?

A total of £22,900 was allocated towards the development of PE in 2017/18.

The government’s funding has been used to plan a number of smaller projects, making 2017/18 the beginning of our three-year plan.

The key aims for this year include:

  • To increase Physical Education opportunities
  • To increase awareness of a Healthy Lifestyle and to tackle obesity
  • To embed Cross-curricular links between PE and Core academic subjects
  • To continue to implement the housing system

PE & Sports Premium 2016-17: £10,212

A full time teacher has been assigned responsibility for overseeing PE & Sports in school and we also employ staff from an external agency that specialises in Sports training and fitness.

Children have the opportunity to take part in numerous after school and lunchtime clubs and visit exciting venues such as Wembley Stadium!

Funding has been used to purchase sports equipment and PE Kits so that all of our children are dressed to fully represent Audley Primary School. We also lease a school minibus which has made a huge difference to our ability to transport children to various venues.
